Our client, an innovative property technology company, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal to assist the company in its search to add a Construction Counsel to its legal team. This attorney will report directly to the General Counsel and will be responsible for a range of legal matters related to contracts and real estate/construction. The role will have a hybrid schedule in the Hayward, Ca HQ.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide legal advice and risk assessments across a broad range of legal matters related to contracts/real estate/construction law.
  • Review, negotiate, and act as an escalation point for agreements related to projects, including purchasing land, manufacturing, building, and commercial agreements.
  • Draft, maintain, and update forms, playbooks, policies, and best practices.
  • Review and provide advice regarding company insurance policies and coverage.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and applicable legal and regulatory developments affecting operations.
  • Provide legal support on various other matters and projects as they arise including litigation management.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A J.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited US law school and an active bar license in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 4-7+ years of experience in real estate or construction law including experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing a variety of real estate and/or construction agreements at a law firm and/or in-house.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work with employees and staff across functions and levels.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion, with ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Self-starter, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and shift priorities according to the needs of the business. Ability to deliver high quality work on tight deadlines.
  • Assumes responsibility and exercise good judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Compensation is currently targeted at a base salary of $170,000 – $190,000 plus bonus and competitive benefits. Base salary and overall compensation will be determined by number of years of directly relevant experience, level of seniority, and geographic location.
